MARVEL The Archive of the Emotions

Product description

An unrequited love is much more than longing! The archive of feelings, written by peter stamm, one of the leading pens of swiss literature, is a stunning novel formed by the internal monologues of a lonely man who builds a new life for himself from piles of paper in the very middle of nowhere. The author, who equates loneliness with purging from emotions while connecting the past and future with solid bridges, displays a dizzying narrative rising in the shadow of unrequited loves, crimes committed by time, and existential aspirations. This groundbreaking book, which floats its layered story in the waters of psychology and philosophy, sets it on a profound ground, is almost a literary reflection of the social psychopathology we experienced globally during the pandemic period.

i don't want anything to change.

kabahat mi? Having spent many years as an archivist in the dark depths of a well-established newspaper, the protagonist finds a way to cling to life after losing his job, once again amidst the dusty pages of the past.

he carries the archives of the newspaper he works for to his home, sets them up in his basement and starts working, this time only for himself. Being able to continue the only job he knows makes him feel good at first.

however, over time, his life is completely trapped in the archive. The nostalgic winds that seep through newspaper clippings take the man in his 60s back to his old memories these days. "as the memories come to life in mazi's mind, especially the love of childhood, franziska, whom they could never truly be ""loved"" with, comes to mind." He realizes that he can never break away from this woman's memories, who has turned into a huge emptiness inside.

maybe now it is time to close their emotions that limit their freedom in an archive, face their past and open a new page in their lives.

In this novel, in which he makes a man who drinks ant to desensitize himself witness the pursuit of the second chance in life, peter stamm emphasizes the irresistible attraction of being carried away by the current of change and being in an eternal moment as if living in memories.

the archive not only reflects the world, but is a copy of the world.
