MARVEL Öklid'i Okurken

Product description

What are the historical adventures of the copies of Euclid's Elements and what is the status of the surviving copies? Is there such a thing as an "original text"? Are we justified in feeling, while reading the Elements, as if Euclid had access to ideas that would enter the world of mathematics centuries after his own time? In this book, we will examine the definitions, reasoning, proofs and the selectivity in the ordering of propositions in selected topics throughout the thirteen books of the Elements in the light of these questions. This book will provide the guidance needed to explore the magical world contained in the Elements, but will leave it to the reader to formulate his or her own answers, because, as Euclid told the king, "There is no king's road to geometry."
