MARVEL Live Sculpture

Product description

“it was as if i had lost my lover, as if i had been abandoned, i had to bury something i had never had and keep that loss a secret.

i couldn't talk to anyone about it.

i have not even said words to my wife in the sense of confession.

what was i going to admit anyway? Is it the relationship that has lasted for years between me and a young woman who seems to have hardened due to her profession when i see her, whose gaze passes over me, who makes me careless and tries to adjust her, talk to her, and even though i gather the courage to hang out with her, but she will never come after me because she is dependent on someone else whom i can hate in my sad times? "günter grass likes to include historical figures in his novels and weave the story around them." This time, the leading role is played by uta von naumburg, a woman who has made her mark in art history, when asked which woman she would like to have dinner with, she named uta von naumburg, that is, uta from naumburg. In a period when eastern germany had not yet united with the west and the borders were not opened, our narrator, who went to cities in the east to give a reading tour with a special permit, sees uta's statue in the naumburg cathedral. In his journey through time to the past, he meets a girl who models this statue and is completely held by her, when he returns to the present, he sees the same girl as a street artist in various cities, or he thinks he sees.

the latter is hidden in the narrator. This subtle narrative, discovered after günther grass's death, is colored with his own drawings.
