In addition to their influence on the states that came after them, the importance of seljuk policies in terms of the political, economic, cultural, religious and ethnic reshaping of the middle east is also in question. During the transition period to islam, it will be recalled how critical their importance was, considering that the seljukids, who synthesized the persian and islamic civilizations they newly met with their understanding of the turkish state, directly influenced the ottoman state and the republic of turkey with the legacy they left. It is a known fact that the malazgirt war, which is impossible to even estimate how significant a historical event it was when it occurred, completely influenced world history. In your work, prof. dr. cihan piyadeoğlu, one of the most important names in our country's seljuk history, re-examines the history of the great seljuks, starting with seljuk, the grandfather of their founders, and ending with the death of sencer. Then, it covers the activities of çağrı bey in merv and musa yabgu based in herat, elaborately describes the period of sultan tuğrul bey and sultan alp arslan, evaluates the malazgirt war in all its critical points, and finally ends with the periods of sultan melikşah, sultan berkyaruk, sultan muhammed tapar, and sultan sencer. It also covers important historical periods such as the dandanakan war, the nizamülmulk, nizamiye madrasas, hassan sabbah and the assassins, relations with byzantium, the conquest of anatolia, baghdad and the caliphate, the gazne and karahanlı states, and the konargöçer oğuzlar. “great seljuk: the beginning of a new era”, with its extremely fluent narrative, carries a resource feature as the most concise work in its field.
