The game, in which abbas reveals family secrets, gains great success. However, the game has many controversial parts: how much of what abbas narrates is true and how much is fiction? Is abbas a mediocre writer who simply ransacked the facts, or has he managed to skillfully wield his imagination? The wedding house, written by the egyptian writer necib mahfuz in 1981, is a novel in which the writer skillfully addresses moral dilemmas with social issues and once again highlights the uniqueness of personal stories.

The nobel prize-winning author's novel employs a faulknerian technique, with each chapter narrated from the perspective of a different character. All four stories are a masterful blend of stream-of-consciousness monologues and the everyday details of cairo life.
