Kırmızı Kedi Yayınları The Discovery of America by Turks

Product description

While the world was celebrating the 500th anniversary of america's discovery in the early 90s, jorge amado was working on a different and as ironic as possible "discovery" story: the discovery of america by the turks. This is the story of jamil bichara from syria and radwan murad from lebanon, who, driven by a passion for adventure and earning money, embarked on a journey to the shores of south america in the early 20th century, boarding ships to explore the new world, alongside other "turcos."

With the amado's definition, "today, brazilians remain a significant community for the brazilian population." . .

In this highly entertaining novel, amado not only tells the story of the "turcos" but also explores the formation of brazilian culture and the coffee culture within the country in a unique way.

Raduan murad, who reads love rubais from omar khayyam, is adventurous, wise, a gambler, and handsome enough to take anyone's mind off their head. his big-built, young adventure companion jamil bichara, merchant ibrahim, and his daughters in their marriage age... a restless, constantly boiling narration. From amado, as described by josé saramago as the "guru of the art of storytelling," comes the "thousand and second" night tale.
