Summary: Atatürk explained the difference of the revolution he led with these words: “Before the last few years, our nation was on the path of modernization and had attempted social revolution. However, genuine results could not be seen. Have you investigated the reason for this? I believe the reason is that the work did not start from its essence, its foundation.”Kemalists harshly criticized the Tanzimat understanding of reform and initiated a movement for total independence, a comprehensive and radical revolution. However, they had to confront the issue of inadequate human resources and a lack of well-educated cadres with every progressive step they took.Prof. Dr. Atakan Hatipoğlu examines the 1920 Turkish Revolution in this book from two themes: First, the historical conditions that prepared the revolution, and second, the internal issues and discussions regarding the danger of regression following the revolution. The human resource issue, which Atatürk relied on, is central to both themes, and the sociological roots of the cadre shortage in the Turkish Revolution are analyzed. The environment in which the Young Turks were nurtured,The rupture between the Tanzimat and the Turkish Revolution,The evolution of the Republic's educational policy,The reflection of the cadre problem of the Kemalist regime in literature are topics primarily addressing different aspects of the human resource issue.
