Kabalcı Yayınevi Britannicus

Product description

Racine's five-act tragedy was first performed in paris in 1669. Britannicus, his first work dealing with roman history, is a political drama. It centers around the intrigues of emperor nero. It tells the struggle of nero, who was put on the throne by his mother agrippine, with his half-brother britannicus. Although britannicus gave the name to the work, he remains in a smaller role next to nero and his dominant character agrippa. Adhering to the classic tragedy structure, the work fits the unity of time and space. It is believed that tacitus, a roman historian, used the writings of the roman historian when writing britannicus, considered one of the noble tragedies of racine. I can say that the tragedy i worked on the most is britannicus. That said, it must be admitted that the success was not as i had hoped for initially. As soon as the tragedy was put on stage, there was a lot of criticism that seemed to want to ruin it. Even i thought that this piece of mine would be less successful than the others. However, in the end, this tragedy also suffered the fate that every work with a good side will undergo. The criticism disappeared, the legacy remained. And now, this tragedy has become the play most appreciated by the court and the public

if i have done something solid and somewhat admirable, it is britannicus, which is the idea of many who understand this business. Jean racine
