Product description

If i stayed there, i could be happy for a lifetime? I don't think so, no.

people migrate, age, die, and that bright belief in encountering another beauty at every turn of the street fades and runs out. Either now or never

we can only catch happiness while it's flying in the air, if we're going to catch it. Tom birkin, i.

a veteran who returned to his country after the bloody battles of world war ii, passchendaele, is trying to recapture his life where he left off. A fresco on a church wall in north yorkshire comes to the oxgodby town for the job of bringing the fresco from the middle ages to light.

At first, as a londoner, he is as unfamiliar with the countryside as an alien from mars. However, the constant life and work rhythm of the countryside, along with an impossible love, quickly embraces birkin, helps him heal the wounds of the war, and makes him feel at home.

"a month in the countryside, as the author puts it, is like a postcard sent to prevent forgetting the joys, sorrows, fears, resentments, frustrations, hopes, dreams, and of course, the efforts of a period that has been lost forever. it is like a postcard that resists the cruel hand of time."

"in the atmosphere that carr describes the tranquility and pastoral life of the countryside with the sadness and lyricism of an impossible love, while trying not to forget all those feelings that are actually so similar, even common to all of us, while tracing the lost beauty of a country, with the translation of umay öze, one of the classics of contemporary english literature ""a moon in the countryside""..." "there is no one like ""penelope fitzgerald"" in modern english literature."
