Generic Brand Suitcase / Jaguar Kitap / Sergey Dovlatov

Product description

'my eyes were glued to the empty suitcase.

karl marx on the bottom, brodsky on the cover.

between the two of them, a huge life that has fallen out of sight and lost its value... i closed the suitcase.

inside, they rolled balls of mothballs with a muffled sound.

what i took out was sitting on the kitchen table in a haphazard pile.

that's what i was able to accumulate over thirty-six years.

it's a balance sheet of my thirty-six years of life in my country.

'is that really all there is to it?' I thought. Then, i replied to myself, 'yes, that's all it means...' At that moment, as they say, i found myself suddenly engulfed in a whirlwind of memories.

they were obviously hiding in the clatter.

when i opened the lid, it all penetrated out. All these memories should probably be named marx to brodsky.

or, for all i know, i may have some saved.
