As far as i remember, none of the works written before vathek can be said to be 'unattributed'. "– jorge luis borges william beckford, one of the pioneers of horror literature, is a name known for his opulent mansion and ruined tower, just like horace walpole, the creator of otranto castle, which is considered the first gothic novel, who brought together gothic literature and gothic architecture within him." Vathek, which inspired lord byron, poe, and lovecraft, is one of the founding texts of gothic literature. Vathek, the ninth caliph of the abbasid dynasty, added five more palaces here when the palace built by his father was not enough, and allocated each of them to satisfy a sense. To safeguard the secrets of the heavens, he commissions a rapidly rising tower, aided by the angels. As you spend your nights in this tower, you get a hunch that a mysterious stranger will come from afar. After encountering him, vathek's life will be turned upside down.

this is the top of the gothic tower under the ground.
