İthaki Yayınları The Unheard Sense Scream

Product description

In this book, the pioneer of logotherapy viktor e.

frankl outlines the ontological emptiness that reaches the size of the mass neurosis. The human search for meaning is a situation that must be considered in therapy and cannot be ignored to determine the purpose of therapy. The author supports this view with examples. In a survey conducted with university students who attempted suicide in america, most of the participants attribute the reasons for their attempts to 'the meaninglessness of life'.

moreover, despite their socially active, good family relations and academic success.

this situation is not limited to the university environment only.

a person cannot be satisfied when he cannot grasp the meaning even if he has everything. According to frankl, although it is not applicable to every case, when 'man's search for meaning' emerges, traditional psychotherapy is insufficient and we may not be able to heal a person without adding meaning to life.

despite good conditions, there are unhappy people, as in the letter included in the book, there are people who are happy despite all difficulties.

a prisoner emphasizes that he can develop in prison and is happier. On one hand, we are talking about the suicide of successful, sociable young people with good family relationships, on the other hand, we are talking about a person in prison who is happier than before. The situation frankl wants to address is that unless we give meaning to a person's life, the therapy we provide for them is incomplete.

although it is not valid for every situation, if a person's neurosis disappears and he/she cannot fill the 'gap', we are not healing that person. The author says: freud wrote in his letter to princess bonaparte, 'a person is sick when he questions the meaning or value of life. However, i believe that a person who wonders about the meaning of life proves their humanity more than they express their mental illness.
