İthaki Yayınları Stranger to Yourself

Product description

A part of us is always foreign to ourselves. The name of this book almost whispering in my ear when i was writing the book, having stepped away from the jobs and forces to write the first lines: foreign to oneself. In my first book, i liked making a reference to milan kundera in the irresistible lightness of being yourself, and in this book, i made a reference to my other literary idol, albert camus, through my title. The hero of albert camus's cult book, meursault, lives not only in existential novels with giant absurd tragedies. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that we are all strangers.

at least a part of us will always remain foreign to ourselves.

neye mi? To the world we live in, to ourselves, to the societies and communities we try to survive in.

estrangement, a state from which none of us can extricate ourselves. We will continue to learn from the experiences we always find difficult to understand.

the main claim i'm trying to make with the work and these stories is that alienation from oneself is one of the things that make human beings. Clinical psychologist and existential psychotherapist, author ferhat jak i̇çöz, presents us with ten fictional therapy stories in stranger than yourself.

while inviting us to the transformative atmosphere of the session room, he opens the doors to first acquaintance and then reconciliation with the side that he will always be a little alien to himself.
