Holmen's language: in turkish, "if allah turns his eyes to the earth, the first thing he sees is the camel's hump hill." The camel grows bigger and bigger, becomes as big as the city

then it grows as big as it can – this time, torn apart – becomes as big as the world. It's not slippery, it's not a steep hill like that. A little humpbacked, with a package of stones, lined on both sides with old-time houses, without sidewalks...before reaching the sea, the tram line cuts off the end of the slope at one end. As soon as he gets rid of the tram track, he can't go to sea again. "the opulent, ottoman-era mansions stand guard, blocking the way to the 'rızabey family house'." a guesthouse perched on deveçikmaz hill in the karataş district of izmir: the rızabey family house. Two friends, hulusi and kemal, brought together by fate, share a room at the rızabey family home. Here, they encounter people who will shape and overturn their lives. We know tahsin, şişman, bahriyeli, güzel i̇bram, fatma, recep with them. Then things escalate, things change

to the point where hulusi and kemal are face to face with death. In this first novel published in 1957, tarık dursun k. masterfully narrates the events that bring two friends together and then separate them. Furthermore, like akira kurosawa's world-renowned film rashomon, it progresses the novel through the mouths of different characters, making it one of the most influential works in turkish literature from a formal and linguistic perspective. Rızabey family house is, above all, a story of solidarity and friendship. We have inherited from times when people did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for their friends.
