İthaki Yayınları Öteki İsim - Septoloji I-II

Product description

What makes us us? And why do we live one life and not live another? Asle, an old painter living alone on the south-west coast of norway, thinks about his life from childhood, remembering many times what remains in the folds of his memory. His only friends are åsleik, his neighbor who lives on the side farm and earns his living from fishing, and beyer, the gallerist in the city. There is another old man named asle in the nearby bjørgvind, who is also a painter, lives alone but is an alcoholic.

Asle and asle are like twins of each other - two versions of the same person, two versions of the same life, inseparable and full of anxiety that creates a tension between the ordinary and the divine, both of which struggle with existential problems such as separation, death, love, light and darkness, faith and disbelief, hopelessness. What makes fosse special is that it touches the deepest emotions within a person. It adds depth to this narrative with repetitions and variations, while describing the experiences we can all relate to in the simplest of words. In the world of fosse's summer, uncertainty shimmers with a hidden light, just like the light shining through the black painting in this book. In 2023, septology, which includes the other name and consists of seven books, was considered worthy of the nobel prize in literature and was ranked 21st by the new york times. Jon fosse, selected among the best face books of the century, is one of the leading representatives of contemporary literature.
