İthaki Yayınları Norse Mythology

Product description

"there was nothing before the beginning: there was neither earth nor dome nor stars nor sky." "neil gaiman has always been a writer inspired by ancient myths, creating fantastic lands in his works such as ""i have an a?le from a fire that never stopped burning with a world from fog""." Now, he directs his attention to the source of these lands and tells the epic northern tales in his own unique style. In norse mythology, the author faithfully depicts the important norse gods: odin, the almighty, wise, brave, and cunning. Thor, odin's son, cannot be said to be the wisest of the gods despite his tremendous might. And loki, odin's blood brother, is a prankster and a schemer who no one can stand in front of. Gaiman treats these old-age stories like a novelist, starting with the creation of the legendary nine worlds and continuing with the adventures of gods, dwarfs, giants. Many myths, from how thor's hammer was stolen to what the source of the mead that inspired poets was, come to life again with gaiman's vivid sentences. In the end, everything reaches its climax at the twilight of the gods: in ragnarök... “gaiman's lean and flowing words, as always, manage to reflect the dramatic power of medieval texts. "the way he tells stories is suitable for everyone from seven to seventy, and this is both appropriate and a clever move."" -ursula k. le guin ""in norse mythology, gaiman told the ancient myths so vividly that i started to think that my bedroom would turn into valhalla while reading." He handles the entire scandinavian pantheon, including dwarfs, giants and creatures, like a movie or a novel. I'll be honest, that's about as long as i'd order a chest armor for. As gaiman said in his presentation, these stories start from the fire and ice that created the world, and tell the journey to the fire and ice that ends the world. Thanks to this book, the myths that i loved reading as a child will be told to the new generation to be discovered from scratch. After all, untold stories are doomed to be forgotten, and each generation must rediscover and understand these myths.” –joanne harris
