Product description

Russian empire in the second half of the 1800s. . . On one side, the cruel feofar khan at the head of the invading tatar troops, on the one hand, the traitor of the former russian officer, ivan ogaref, who cooperates with the tatars, on the other hand, a young girl trying to move forward on the difficult roads of siberia, two european journalists who came to cover the invasion, the grand duc who was stranded in a remote corner of siberia and appointed by the tsar, an ulak whose fate depends on the entire country: mishel strogof. . . In an environment where all communication channels are disrupted, michel strogof is tasked with carrying vital news from moscow to irkutsk, passing through siberia. He has to cope, on the one hand, with the obstacles created by nature, and on the other, with the invading enemies. Jules verne presents us with both a heroic saga, a journey story, and a historical novel as he describes the events that occur from the beginning of the caravans. While walking the reader through the siberian geography, he conveys the ideas of european journalists about the russian empire's relations with the local peoples, and he does not neglect to analyze the contradictions between the hero's sense of duty and his emotional world.
