Translator: erhan gürer Dimitri verhulst is one of the most acerbic and sensational novelists of the twenty-first century, a figure brought to the world by modern belgian literature. The bad boy of literature, so to speak. A writer who isn't afraid to wield their pen like a hammer. It first dealt with the issue of refugees in europe, then it made the hotel famous, and later it was visited by verhulst courtrooms, which were accused of many irregularities. In flandre, somewhere in a forgotten village, a child lives with his father, three uncles, and his grandmother in her house. They are all rude, uncouth and alcoholic. This family, who have sunk to the bottom of the social class and have no expectations from life, life is a real discovery. In his semi-autobiographical novel, he describes a world of melancholy, where alienation and social ostracism, devoid of etiquette and shame, reign supreme. The loneliness of the polar bear in the desert, adapted to the white screen, is the romance of the uselessness, the fight of alcoholism, the fight and the abandonment. "a book that depicts the negative aspects of a natural, realistic family without hiding a grain." Booklist "a novel that turns the human mind and arouses curiosity." With the literal translation of the guardian erhan gürer's felemenkçe.
