goncharov, the creator of the immortal oblomov genre, in his last novel, the slope, in detail paints the russian society of the 19th century.

from the ?city life in petersburg, the rayski escapes to malinovka, where the family farm is located on the volga k›y›s›n.

describing himself as an artist›, rayski is interested in painting, music and literature, but this interest always remains superficial, just like in his private life›.

the interest in first sofia belovodova and then their cousins, marfenka and vera, is also deep-rooted, in the case of vera, with the nihilist volohov and his network. Gonçarov, who has been studying for twenty years, changes the characters he added to the novel and the focus point in social developments on the slope over time.

volohov with his character nihilism, novel integrity ensuring character rayski and the period of russian artists›n› ele?tirir.

goncharov demonstrates an unprecedented mastery of the plots in the slope, as well as a climate of tension, excitement and dramatic encounters that have not been found in his previous works.
