İletişim Yayınları Great Transformation: Çağımızın Siyasal ve Ekonomik Kökenleri

Product description

The great transformation, first published in 1944 in america, the stronghold of 'wild capitalism,' begins with this sentence: 'the civilization of the nineteenth century collapsed.'

The market, which karl polanyi declared to be the lifeblood and fundamental shaper of the nineteenth-century civilization, operated according to its own rules. The market system, which transforms labor, land, and money into capital, rendering human societies unconditionally dependent within an unprecedented level of corporate uniformity on an international scale. According to polanyi, the collapse was inevitable, because the market system, which operates according to its own rules, is impossible to reconcile with human society.

great transformation, the story of this inconceivable and inevitable downfall. That is, the story of both economic liberalism and the fascisms and socialisms that emerged as inevitable alternatives to it.

It is also noteworthy that the great transformation emerged in the 80s, a period when economic liberalism was criticized by backward ignorant people who were trying to prevent the protective measures provided by them as populists who served them, with interest groups trying not to miss the rants that were imposed on the whole world as the last stage of human history, a market society that polanyi called 'contrary to human nature', and almost all hope was lost in socialism. - ayşe buğra - Promotional text
