Appropriately named for its thick, succulent, heart-shaped leaves, the sweetheart hoya plant, often called the Valentine plant or the sweetheart wax plant, is a kind of Hoya.

The sweetheart hoya plant is an attractive, low-maintenance indoor plant, much like other Hoya types.

Although caring for a sweetheart hoya isn't difficult or involved, the plant has certain requirements for its growth environment.

This Valentine hoya may survive in partial shade but not in very low light.

Nonetheless, strong or indirect sunlight is ideal for the plant's growth and increases the likelihood of a bloom.

Maintaining a room temperature between 60 and 80 F, or 15 and 26 C, is recommended.

The darling hoya may survive with as few as one or two waterings each month thanks to its juicy, meaty leaves.

When the soil seems just barely dry to the touch, give it a good watering, then allow the pot to drain fully.

Wet, soggy soil can lead to lethal rot, even though the earth should never get bone dry.

Make sure the love hoya is placed in a container that has a hole for drainage.

The sweetheart hoya needs minimal fertilizer and is a light feeder.

A gallon of water should be mixed with a ¼ teaspoon (1 ml) of a mild solution of balanced, water-soluble houseplant fertilizer.

During the growing season, feed the plant once a month

in the winter, stop feeding.

Try exposing a mature plant to greater light or colder nighttime temps if it doesn't blossom.
