summary: Simone de beauvoir and jean-paul sartre met at the sorbonne in 1929, and they continued their intellectual and romantic partnership until sartre's death in 1980, leaving their mark on the history of france and the world. while the beauvoir farewell ceremony showcased sartre's human side, it also highlighted france's political and social landscape. He explains it with testimonies. Sartre wasn't just a philosopher

he was a man dedicated to society, striving to touch people's everyday lives. in *the farewell party*, we witness firsthand his friendship with beauvoir, their love, and his relationship with his own and other selves. When we were young, after a passionate argument, when one of us achieved a brilliant success, the other would say, “you're in your box!”

you're in your box, you won't get out of there, and i won't be able to reach you there:Even if they bury me next to you, there will be no passage from your ashes to my bones.
