Everest Yayınları Another Perfect Day at Sea

Product description

Geoff dyer was making and painting model fighter planes for hours as a child. In 2011, he fulfilled a childhood dream and had the chance to spend two weeks on the aircraft carrier uss george h. w. bush.

"in ""another perfect day at sea"", the author conveys the impressions gained from the routines and protocols of the ""aircraft carrier world"", from the kilometers-long walkways on the flight deck and the detailed layout offering meals to the crew of five thousand people, to the deafening complexity of the catapult and arrestor system."

Growing up in the british culture in the american world that encourages people to constantly improve and do better, the author cleverly records daily life on the ship, revealing that this is a prism to understand a society where discipline and harmony have become forms of self-expression of dedication and optimism. "it is quite understandable why the author is praised as one of the most original - and funniest - voices of contemporary literature in ""a perfect day at sea"", which cannot be trapped in the patterns of a certain genre."
