Doğu Batı Yayınları Imperial Imaginings

Product description

The imperial resurrections is a work that brings the most gripping issues of history directly to our days. It is a synthetic and extremely comprehensive work that allows us to reflect on the different historical evolutions of the empires on a common ground. Krishan kumar asks the most basic questions: how are empires managed? How did those who ruled the empire manage to keep the peoples they conquered together for so long and successfully? What was the imperial thought 's view of the cultural and religious distinction? This was also a question for the founding peoples own identity. The creation of an imperial identity and belonging above national differences was the fundamental goal of all empires. The dream of all peoples inspired by rome to become imperial citizens, although it ultimately fails, is a great historical test they had to go through the five empires here. Unlike nation states, the empire claim is a universal one. Whether religion, civilization or a political ideology, they have been able to organize their people around a universal mission. Therefore, the loss of this imperial mission and narrative constitutes an integral part of the history of many peoples-nations. What is the place of the empire, which is said to have filled its demise, in the collective identity of the peoples? Did the empires really die or are they gaining new ways of life? Can empires be useful historical tools to understand current events such as migration crisis, globalization, and rising populism? Are there positive lessons to be learned from the rise and fall of empires? This vast work, which compares the five major empires of europe, including the ottoman empire, addresses these questions and also touches on the most burning issues of today. Author: krishan kumar
