summary: This book is a study that explores the relationship between turkish painting and paris. It explores an art experience that originated from turkey, shaped in paris, through the productions of painters who settled in another city.

Nedim gürsel takes paris not as an imagined art center, but as a city that tests the artist.

voluntary or involuntary exile, alienation, problems of subsistence and search for identity are the main themes that determine both the life and production of these painters.Art, in this context, is not a means of harmony, but often appears as a form of opposition.

The author doesn't just recount the life stories of the painters through factual accounts

they also bring their memories to the fore.

it focuses on workshop practices, exhibition processes, aesthetic preferences and personal fractures.

the texts follow a narrative that is based on art history but that is in direct relation to the reader.

"paris' turkish painters" is a work that questions the circulation of turkish art in europe and the bond established by the artist with the place where they lived. The book is a unique resource for both readers interested in art and those who want to understand modern turkish culture.
