summary:What was a sin for the people was a right in the palace.

Vahdettin's fifth wife, nimet sultan, recounts:There was only one goal in the palace's law.

fulfilling the pleasures, desires of the ruler and the princes. For the people outside, the laws and ethical records were unjust for the rulers and princes in the palace. There was no such thing as sin when their pleasure was at stake.

The women living in the palace had accepted this law as it was.

they counted themselves the goods, toys, sold by this dynasty.

they did not see a disgrace in the honor, the dignity of serving the pleasure of the ruler and the princes.

The rulers and princes played with the women they had in their hands as much as they wanted, and then they threw them aside like a broken toy one day.

i was a turkish girl who somehow fell into the palace.

i was a girl raised by the people.

i had never accepted the law of the palace.

i had always been deeply rebellious.

“why is this thing like this? Why not?“your daughter.

” they used to say.

“you are tempting.

god’s order is like that.

”Is that god's order? My mind could not accept that god would give different orders for different people, different orders for the palace.

if someone else wanted to use me as a toy for a day or two, tried to buy me, of course i would rebel. Why should i willingly surrender when the man who wants to enjoy himself is vahdettin? Why should i look at him with another eye?
