Destek Yayınları Türkiye'de Yeni, Toplumcu, Demokratik Belediyecilik

Product description

There have been efforts to evaluate and qualify the democratic or social municipalism movement in turkey from 1973-80, within its own period, and later in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.

Among them, in summary, we find this movement stumbling upon such identification approaches as: • an “experts’ attempt”

• an effort “arising from the contributions of urbanization experts”

• an attempt “to voice democratic demands, to respond to the democratic aspirations of the masses”

• “a spontaneous move”

• “the compound of many social and political events, sometimes a current of reaction to these events and developments”

• “component of a counter-hegemonic urban policy”

• an initiative “which makes a demand for the autonomy of local government”

• a “contributive” movement that “contributes to the emergence of urban working classes as a social subject”

• an attempt “to create positive traces in the memory of socialists”

• a “politization of the perception of a local government entity that is considered a non-governmental organization”

• a trend that “municipalities are moving closer to being an enabling, competent and relatively autonomous space of political power”

• a constructive effort to create a “democratic, sharing leadership understanding” rather than “conventional, exploitative leadership”

• an understanding of “advocating public interests, the right to use, and the benefit and prosperity of the society”

• a movement that “combats poverty, erases income inequalities, focuses on the reintroduction of urban rants into society and aims to improve local democra”.
