Product description

The delusion and the dreams in w.

jensens gradiva is an essay written by sigmund freud in 1907, which examines the novel gradiva by wilhelm jensen and in particular its protagonist in psychoanalysis.

The novel tells the story of a young archaeologist, norbert hanold, who recognizes his love for his childhood friend in a long and complex process, mainly by associating her with an idealized woman in the form of a gradiva relief. Freud considered the novel as a prime example of something that could be called “healing through seduction” or “healing through love” and as proof that the oedipus complex is still active even in normal adults.
