Product description

"dealing with crime - telling the truth consists of the text of the seminars michel foucault gave in 1981 at the university of louvain, where he went with a special invitation." In his seminars, he sketches the history of confession as a form of connection and relationship between truth telling and judgment, within the framework of criminal practices from the beginning to the present. In the first two seminars, foucault examines the pre-legal period of ancient greece. In the first seminar, he brings up the relationship between struggle and what is considered right and what is considered just, while in the second seminar, he brings up the knowledge of the righteous and the pursuit of truth. "the next two seminars focus on the middle ages and christianity, which foucault related to the problem of ""confession, absolution and investigation""." The last two seminars addressing the modern and contemporary period are shaped around “issues of confession, examination and expertise.” Throughout the seminars, a perspective that could be called “saying the right thing or the right word, political and corporate ethnology” has been adopted.

Here foucault does not identify the conditions that any proposal must fulfill in order to be accepted as true or false, but analyzes the relationship between truth games and power games

As a weapon, truth is seen as a polemic and a set of strategic data. The field of inquiry that is discussed in seminars can be described with two questions.

the first question: regarding crime and the criminal, what practices shape the question of truth? Second question: how can a person who is about to say something to blame himself, tell the truth about himself? These questions go beyond crime and the criminal, they include a new object in the game of right and wrong, which is the relationship between a person and himself.
