In kent and the dogs, which llosa wrote when he was twenty-three, two separate worlds intertwine, collide with each other, and complete each other. The incident takes place in lima, the four-million capital of peru, which houses a third of the population, at a military academy.

the author ' s personal experiences, who have had two difficult years in this school, provide the objectivity of the narration and increase its persuasiveness.

the main feature of this academy is the coexistence of children of rich-poor, white-indigenous, black-mestizo, bourgeois-peasant and children of the offender. In this series of events, which includes training to be a “real man” at its center, there are references to the entire latin american social structure.
