Product description

Thomas mann's changing heads, published in stockholm in 1940, xii. ...offers a fresh perspective on an ancient indian legend. Despite coming from different backgrounds and being mentally and physically very different from each other, şridaman and nanda are inseparable friends. Shridaman is a delicate-faced, frail individual from a merchant family tracing its roots back to the brahmin caste. nanda, on the other hand, is a strong and handsome young man, a blacksmith by trade, and the son of a cowherd. The friendship of these two young people, complementing each other, takes on a new dimension when they meet the beautiful sita.

shridaman and sita get married.

but sita has regrets about her choice. Their lives take a dramatic turn when they embark on a trip with sita's family. Thomas mann, with his ever-shifting perspectives, creates a rare phenomenon: intercultural dialogue. Mann's novel, inspired by indian mythology, draws inspiration from the award-winning play hayavadana by indian playwright girish karnad. In his work, mann has literally created a mythological indian fantasy.

changing heads, a mythological and fantastic tale that tells a lot about motifs such as east and west, mind and body, friendship and love, erotism and spiritual harmony.
