Product description

“i'm trying to understand the strange feelings that started to sit in my heart in those days when i look at it from a distance all this time

i still can't distinguish the forms of feelings that mixed irregularly in me, and no thoughts illuminated them.” Arturo is a young man who lives an isolated life in a magnificent house on procida island, with his father who rarely visits the house, his dog, and his small boat.

he enjoys spending time wandering through the lush nature of the island during the day and reading books about great discoveries and mysterious east in the evening. However, one day, his father returns with a young woman from the outskirts of naples and marries her, changing the dynamics of the house.

soon, arturo discovers that the world ' s dream is not paradise.

"arturo's island, which was awarded the strega prize in 1957, is the most important work of elsa morante, who lived in a period when the regime in italy manifested itself in every aspect of life, from politics to culture, from art to architecture, from education to music, from literature to language, and it reflects her inner world, her troubles, her anxieties, and her fears."
