summary: "romantic vienna," published in 1993 and winner of the aydın doğan foundation literature award in 1997, is one of ağaoğlu's works considered a modern classic. The novel intertwines history with the present, a story where the narrated and real life overlap. the history teacher, kamil kaya, whom his students called a "dreamy teacher," travels to vienna, the city he dreamed of during his retirement years. this journey goes beyond the desire to see a city, and kamil kaya confronts the realities of life he always missed. kaya's experiences and thoughts in vienna transform into a profound narrative, questioning the traces of history in human life and the differences between stories and reality. Ağaoğlu, with his romantic vienna writing, not only traces an individual reckoning, but also the pursuits that do not leave the human being throughout his life and the dreams that resist time.
