Imara in swahili means balanced and reliable, which perfectly describes this precious coffee.

the imara blend is mainly composed of sl28, sl32 and ruiru 11 collected from small farms and cooperatives in western and central kenya. These farms are located in the highlands, at an altitude of 1,300 to 1,900 meters above sea level, and benefit from kenya's famous coffee climate and growing conditions. All the coffees that contribute to imara are washed in accordance with kenya's very high standards for post-harvest practices.

coffees are harvested by hand picking and then separated to remove any unripe or damaged coffee.

then the fruit is separated from the core and fermented for an average of 12-24 hours.

they are then thoroughly washed and graded for density before being dried on raised african beds.

coffees are usually rested in conditioning silos after drying to balance moisture.

they are then delivered to kahawa bora factory in thika for dry milling, grading and export preparation.
