Our story is set in the netherlands, so the customs of the netherlands and its people are vividly depicted throughout the story. Thus, the reader gets to know another country and its culture through living heroes, on the other hand, they witness that some values remain the same in different cultures, that is, their universality. The heroes of our story, hans and gretel, are brave and hardworking children who face difficulties due to the terrible accident that happened to their father and the poverty they are in. They are helping their mothers as much as they can, and also struggling to survive by taking care of their fathers who are not of sound mind. Suddenly, they hear that a roller skating competition is going to be held in december of that year, and the winner will be awarded a silver roller skate. Up until that day, even participating in the competition was a dream for the two siblings who could only skate on their homemade, makeshift wooden skates.

just like their father will get better one day. But goodness and good intentions exist, nothing is impossible as long as one does not give up trying.
