Product description

When the small villages of malawi where he lives succumb to the drought, william kamkwamba is thirteen years old. When his family loses their entire year's crop due to drought, he, like everyone else, faces hunger. Almost every night, he goes to bed on an empty stomach and witnesses people around him starving one by one. As if this wasn't enough, he is forced to leave his beloved school due to poverty, but instead of giving up, he challenges the impossibilities with his curiosity, intelligence, and joy of life. William may not be able to go to school, but he travels the path to the village library every day, discovers science books here, and the doors to a whole new world open before him. He now has a dream: he will bring water to his village to build a windmill, which will bring electricity to the fields. Thus, no one will ever go hungry again. Since there is no way to buy the materials to make the windmill, he starts digging through the trash cans and collecting scrap. Even though everyone, including his own family, looks at him with crazy eyes, he never gives up on his dream because he sees opportunity where everyone else sees garbage. He is curious, tries and succeeds. Number of pages: 264
