Bakaliona Coşkun Karademir - Folk'N'Jazz Record

Product description

Folk'n'jazz, bringing together the versatile musician coşkun karademir, pianist and composer selen gülün, and drummer robert mehmet i̇kiz, offers a contemporary and free perspective on the rich musical heritage of anatolia. The album, which belongs to selen gülün, is released in cd and lp formats as a joint production of ck music production and loftcaz records. Folk'n'jazz is more than just bringing folk music and jazz together

it's about these two powerful traditions transforming each other within a shared musical language.

While coşkun karademir's cymbal carries the memory and emotional depth of folk songs, selen gülün's piano opens the melodies to new harmonic spaces

Robert mehmet ikiz's colorful and dynamic drumming approach gives the music a wide range of rhythmic movement. Three musicians craft a balanced, vibrant, and improvisational trio narrative, bridging the gap between tradition and contemporary music. The album's repertoire includes 'pınar başından bulanır', 'değmen benim gamlı yaslı gönlüme', 'giresun'un i̇çinde', 'melamet hırkası', 'gesi bağları', 'bülbülüm altın kafeste' and âşık veysel's 'güzelliğin on para etmez'. These seven works, which have strong counterparts in our memory, maintain their original characters in selen gülün's arrangements, while improvising, new harmonic relationships and the meeting of three musicians.
