Inge Lohmark "Sit down," the students sat down.

"Turn to page seven in the book," the students turned to page seven.

Then they began to study ecosystems, the order of nature, the interdependencies and interactions between species, living beings and their environment, the interactions between society and space. The main character in The Giraffe's Neck is a disgruntled biology teacher who has internalized Darwin's theory in Darwin High School, which is about to come to an end due to a shortage of students in a small town in the former East Germany

The only thing that applies in the lessons and private life of Lohmark, who sees being civilized and cultured as a weakness, is the cruel laws of nature. At the beginning of the school year, Lohmark sees the students in a certain category according to their names

he carefully prepares a list of names and identifies the students

Erika sits in the center of the class in the second row and in the middle

she is the center of the class

she is different from all the other students.Erika is identified differently from Tom, Laura and Ellen

Erika sits slouched, slouching is repulsive, perhaps against nature

Lohmark talks to herself, sarcastic in her speech, the students are not aware of her inner speech

she longs for East Germany, for sporting competitions, she does not reveal her longing.
