Ayrıntı Yayınları Return to essence

Product description

“the essays included in this book share a common concern about africa’s place in today’s world. Any discussion about the continent must take into account the depths from which africa emerged and the world powers it had to fight against, from the trade to ry, from colonialism to debt bondage.

despite all the impossibilities, a lot of good things have happened.

this is a reason to hope. On the other hand, such discussions conducted about the continent should also address what africa has not managed to do and the troubles it has caused on its own.

”kenyan writer ng?g?, one of the biggest names in african literature? Wa thiong'o speaks of africa's struggle to find its place in a world full of contradictions.

This is a world of injustice and instability, where globalization is moving at full speed, despite all the possibilities offered by science and technology, poverty and diseases exist, and where a privileged minority rules over the back of a poor majority. this is a world threatened by nuclear weapons. The author calls on african intellectuals and leaders to take up the task of making africa visible in such a world, equipped with enormous human resources and natural resources, so that it can fairly receive what it deserves.

he wants african intellectuals to first of all claim their own languages, take responsibility for implementing african unity, which will make the continent stronger than leaders.

if the path to follow, the essence, the real source of power is through the return to the people.
