Ayrıntı Yayınları Philosophical History of German Sociology

Product description

The philosophical history of german sociology offers a systematic reconstruction of critical theory, starting from the founders of sociology (marx, simmel, weber) and extending to the frankfurt school (horkheimer, adorno, habermas) through lukacs.

By analyzing in depth the theories of alienation, rationalization and instrumentalization, vandenberghe questions the metatheoretical presuppositions of a critical theory of today, which will not only shed light on the reality of domination, but also illuminate possible ways of liberation.

"as stated by benhabib in his note to the special edition in turkish: ""a comprehensive and reliable introductory work that examines the evolution of german social theory from karl marx and max weber to the frankfurt school and jürgen habermas, centered around the concept of materialization."

instructive and horizon-opening.

”This work of frederic vandenberghe provides a meticulous and comprehensive explanation of the critical theory tradition. I can confidently say that it is the best contribution to the subject produced so far. The section specifically about habermas provides a detailed and quite original interpretation of the fundamental stages in the development of the thought of a great contemporary philosopher.
