Ayrıntı Yayınları Massacres - Cinai Divisions

Product description

Are mass murders an indicator of the peak of modernity, or even of the collapse of democracy, or, on the contrary, of the return of civilization or barbarism? Can the people who committed these massacres be described as ordinary or as psychopaths? Can it be said that the case of the holocaust has a historical singularity, uniqueness, or is it comparable to other examples of genocide? The book in your hands is intended to open a discussion on the above reproducible questions and approaches, in order to understand under what conditions the sexual madnesses that occurred in the twentieth century burst out and how individuals eventually turned into volunteers to participate in these events, by analyzing approximately twenty mass destruction events that occurred in the twentieth century. A unique perspective is put forward in this regard: people who, for weeks, months, or even years, without hesitation, ruthlessly, and sometimes even enthusiastically, kill their fellow citizens after the work is done, without feeling any guilt, are just ordinary people who obey ideologies or orders of the time: you and i, or anyone, could have done the same thing under the same conditions. In this investigation, abram de swaan scrutinizes the thesis of the banality of evil, examining the genesis, evolution, and witnesses of mass atrocities. he focuses on the often overlooked or taken-for-granted heroes who played significant roles in these events. . .
