Product description

Solange and claire, who have been working under the orders of the lady for many years, are experiencing the final moments of the “game” they cling to for life. They have decided to kill the lady they love, whom they respect, whom they have not failed in respect, and whom they owe their existence to.

tonight, when a murder will be committed, will be the scene of the takeover of the reins of unbridled desires, the chaos of changing roles, the breaking of mirrors, the unleashing of violence, the triumph of those who have reached salvation in destruction. Jean genet's 'the maids', first staged in 1947, is undoubtedly one of the most prominent, controversial, and groundbreaking texts of twentieth-century western literature.

the servants, which has been one of the most staged plays worldwide since the day it was written, has been the subject of numerous readings, researches in the context of text and representation, and has been brought to the stage with countless interpretations that push its possibilities. According to jean-paul sartre, the servants, the perfect example of genet's literature, have a distinct place and importance as they bring together almost all the constituent elements of this literature. On the night when the trio formed by solange, claire, and the lady is ready to take over the entire dominion with the helm of violence, they are tested to decide whether to go beyond their defined roles or not.

Servants, who are forced to turn their desires into a game of illusion, to disguise themselves, and to ignore their own existence while striving to do their jobs flawlessly due to the pressure caused by their social identities, question and interrogate the definition of innocence and sin at the border of the unknown where good and evil are in this final ceremony. According to sartre, goodness in servants is just an illusion.

evil is a void that builds itself up on the ruins of the good.

The main focus of the servants, who have multiple layers of meaning in almost every sentence, and behind their plain appearance hides a labyrinth of complex, intertwined narrations that can be enriched with brand new interpretations even today, is perhaps love, above all else. Again, with sartre's words, do these women love each other? Or do they hate it? They hate each other with passion, just like all of genet's people. Jean genet: jean genet is born on april 19, 1910 in paris. It is unknown who his father is.

he is abandoned by his mother shortly after his birth. He grows up in an orphanage until he is adopted by a farmer family in morvan in 1918.

the ten-year-old thief, genet, who eats the stamp, is released from the reformatory at regular intervals until the eighteenth. At the age of eighteen, he escapes from the prison in mettray and joins the colonial troops, but he escapes from there a few years later.

his life begins to earn from theft, begging and extortion. After living a life of vagrancy in spain, italy, yugoslavia, austria, czechoslovakia, poland, and germany for years and repeatedly going to and from prison, he finally returns to france in 1937.
