Product description

Jean genet... 'bastard' and orphan in childhood... 'thief', homosexual and writer in adulthood... father unknown... mother abandoned him as soon as he was born... escaped from the orphanage where he spent his childhood at the age of 10.He lived his life in various European countries, committing crimes such as theft and smuggling

he was often imprisoned

he was sentenced to life imprisonment after his tenth trial for theft in France.

when the first novel he wrote attracted the attention of famous writers such as andré gide, jean cocteau and jean-Paul sartre, his sentence was pardoned with the petition of these writers to the president.

he supported many struggles, from social movements in france to the philistine struggle and the black panthers movement in america, with an anarchist attitude.

genet, a writer who mostly wrote novels and theater works, gave autobiographical elements a prominent place in the thief's diary.penetrating the remotest corners of life, the world of thieves, prostitutes, prostitutes, homosexuals, pimps, with a highly poetic language and deep and subtle psychological analysis, The Thief's Diary is also a work of the most literary praise of the male body.Genet, who both challenged the power, discourses and codes of behavior of the male-dominated society from the 'opposite' side and experienced the humiliating pleasure of identifying with the 'male' and 'police' qualities of this power, is, in his own words, 'coward, traitor, thief and homosexual'.While he wanders around like a 'saint' at the highest level of humiliation and self-degradation, in the mirror he holds up to 'our world' from which he is completely excluded, he makes us watch the images of immorality, betrayal and violence in the splendor of a parade. The life of this underground, outcast 'outcast' is an attack from within life on certain values that many people dare not even touch

this life is transformed into a poem, but a violent poem, in The Thief's Diary

The Thief's Diary is an insider's description of a world that is standing right next to us and is being ignored

to meet the aesthetics of the outlaw.
