Product description

Laughing is one of the acts we do all day long without thinking about it. But what are the things that make us laugh in our daily lives, who do we laugh at? What is funny in a work we read or watch?... When we start to think about these questions, we realize that the act of laughter is not at all that comprehensible, that it has been the subject of deep reflection since Aristotle... In this essay, Laughter, Henri Bergson confronts us with the answers to these questions and invites us to reflect on the details of life... What is funny is not in nature, but in man. The various states, gestures and movements of the human body are ridiculous to the extent that they make us think of this body as a simple machine. Therefore, where there is a rigidity that is incompatible with the inner softness of life, there is a society in disguise, the comic. The comic is the form that wants to be superior to the essence

it draws our attention to the physical rather than the spiritual side of man. We laugh whenever a person gives us the impression of an object. Repetition, reversal, reversal of roles, the mechanization of life... We find something funny in every unnatural thought and behavior. The involuntary, unconscious movement of the individual with society is the basic condition for laughter. Since a person can adapt neither to others nor to himself without knowing others and himself, rigidity, self-absorption, absent-mindedness, social incompatibility arise and a comic character emerges. The question specifically sought to be answered in laughter is why social disharmony leads to laughter. For those who want to get lost in the details of life...
