Our naturalness, which we are oppressed by moral concerns, actually confronts us with the reality of what we can find right and valid to what extent. This novel, which has an open plot for different journeys, can be read not only as a convincing and innocent narrative of what we can do for a passion that is right for ourselves, but also as a narrative of what conditions can arise the desire to “power” and “surrender” within us. Or it can be interpreted as a striking description of the efforts of two separate social classes to draw closer to each other, in fact, the lower class seeks revenge on the upper class, and the upper class seeks nothing but to keep the “masses” as far from him as possible by taking on the guise of a teacher. extremely self-confident and rigorous… ruthless, marauding and absolutely convincing.” jean baudrillard, on seduction. Richard lister, london standard “the collector has a fabulous, unusual theme. A short, indirect and brilliantly written thriller novel with psychological and social scars.” Alain brien, sunday times
