At a time when he is having a hard time alone, and his dreams of being a poet are also falling into the water, he meets the mysterious millionaire conchis... the magician is almost a metaphysical fun train that navigates through the labyrinth of the human mind. In these labyrinths, the gray zone between reality and illusion is violated by our hero. As a result of the events of the spooky developing one after another, love and betrayal, urfe becomes suspicious of everything, especially his own mental health. In the story, where various references are made to mythological elements and shakespeare's famous play 'the tempest', john fowles skillfully describes the brutality of war, the tranquility of a mediterranean island, the complex structure of the human mind, the nature of the relationship between men and women, and the concepts of god and freedom. Based on the idea that true freedom can only be achieved by knowing oneself, the relationships between dreams and real experiences are dramatically brought to the stage by conchis, the prospero of fowles, with a series of illusions, masks, and spectacles. In the magician, the threat that humanity faces is as hidden between the walls of western culture as it is between the walls of one's own consciousness. This is a journey to a new level of consciousness that can be reached through the efforts of individuals who, like urfe, discover the freedom to stay away from the behavioral patterns imposed by the social structures of the culture in which they were born. The wizard, on the list of the best hundred works written in the english language in the 20th century by random house, is a literary feast of the challenges of achieving personal freedom and the discovery of one's self...
