Product description

In this book, Hubert Selby Jr., author of the cult book Last Exit to Brooklyn, takes us into the lives of the underground people of his world

the lost, the seduced, the unscrupulous, the ruthless. With his great love, forgiveness and compassion, he again humanizes the inhuman... Requiem for a Dream traces the destruction suffered by four people

three young and one old. Sara Goldfarb, a widow living alone in Coney Island, a poor neighborhood in Brooklyn, dreams of losing weight and landing a TV show. Her junkie son Harry is running a drug ring with his girlfriend Marion and his buddy Tyrone to make a quick buck. Ecstatic with the prospect of a bright future, the four are convinced that their momentary setbacks are just temporary road accidents. As things take a turn for the worse, instead of accepting that they have in fact created their own ominous nightmare, they sink deeper into the pit of terror their addiction has opened... Requiem for a Dream, which was also made into a movie and has a huge fan base, is a book about love. More precisely, about what happens to love and lovers when things go wrong. As the words burn through the pages, you will realize that you have always chosen to live a dream instead of living what life brings and you will never, ever forget this reading experience.
