Today, we see that the secret revolution of the century is perhaps actually the material revolution of the bourgeoisie or the revolution of entrepreneurial communities. This was not what orwell expected-he certainly did not aspire to such a thing. Orwell carried the hope of the 20th century, which is the hope that the socialist revolution will transform or rebuild society. The point that interested him was that the people who were said to have made the revolution on their behalf were generally not those who benefited from the revolution, but were its victims

so the task of these people was to stand up to their power-loving leaders and overthrow them...
