Product description

Love and loss, betrayal and redemption...

These timeless emotions sometimes make life bearable.

We love some of our books.

THE VACANCY "There is nothing lonelier than a cat that was once loved, at least for a while, and then abandoned by the side of the road." An old dog, a cat with a baby, an unlikely family, love and loss, betrayal and redemption...

A timeless and magical, Artemisian classic.

A fairytale-like story that emphasizes the power of love and hate, the fragility of happiness and the importance of keeping our promises.A spotted cat, about to have kittens, hears the lonely and unhappy howl of a chained hound from the back of the river.

He ventures deep into the forest to find the owner of the voice.

The hound befriends the cat, whom he is supposed to hate.

They become an unlikely pair and soon become an unlikely family.

Ranger tells the cat to hide in the hollow under the porch to raise her kittens, because he is sure that Zargana Face, the owner of the house, will use them as crocodile bait if he finds them.

But they will be safe in the Hollow.

As long as they don't come out...

But kittens are notoriously curious creatures. And when one of the kittens succumbs to his curiosity, it's the beginning of a series of events.

Surprising, wondrous, and with great meaning...Kati Appelt tells a sad but sweet story about the power of love and hate, the fragility of happiness, and the importance of keeping your word.
