Aras Yayıncılık HAYGAGAN URUAGANI (Armenian Ghost)

Product description

There are secrets that everyone knows about, but no one talks about. Communities coexist with these secrets and the ghosts they create.

a ghost has been roaming around anatolia for over a hundred years. They are the ghosts of hundreds of thousands of people who were killed in violent events and displaced from their homes. However, sometimes people who live can also turn into ghosts, especially when they have to deny their identities and hide themselves. Brigitte balian and varoujan artin from france come to turkey to trace those ghosts in the armenian ghost. The anxiety they experienced, having to leave the lands their ancestors had to abandon and never set foot on before, is replaced by a deep curiosity and desire for recognition when they start to see traces of ghosts everywhere over time.

Thus, on a journey from istanbul to diyarbakır, from dersim to sivas, and from there back to istanbul, they see with their own eyes how the muslimized armenians of anatolia, the alleged ghosts of the armenians who were destroyed, live today and under what conditions.

They witness both the fact that what they have known until now is wrong in the face of these people who defy all taboos and difficulties, and who manage to resist and live despite everything, and they are illuminated by the crumbs of hope that fly in the most unexpected places.

laurent marchand, guillaume perrier and thomas azuelos in the armenian ghost, they draw the gold of one of the largest tabular of turkey with bold strokes of pen and brush.
